Terms of Service

The short version. Penny Note is a free productivity and games app for kids, with an optional Plus subscription for $1.99/month or $19.99/year. To use Penny Note you have to be 13 or older, or have a parent's permission. Be kind, don't try to break it, and don't sell or copy our stuff. We can cancel accounts that abuse the service. Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel.

1. Who can use Penny Note

You can use Penny Note if you are 13 or older. If you are under 13, your parent or legal guardian must provide verified consent (described in our Privacy Policy) before you can create an account. Adults using Penny Note as a parent of an under-13 child agree that they have the legal authority to give consent for that child.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password safe.
Don't pretend to be someone else or create an account in someone else's name.
One person, one account, please.
If you sign in with Google, you also agree to Google's terms.

3. Acceptable use

Don't:

Use Penny Note to harass, harm, or threaten anyone.
Try to access another user's account or data.
Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy Penny Note for a competing product.
Attempt to break or overload the service.
Upload anything illegal or that infringes someone else's rights.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

4. Plus subscription

Penny Note Plus is $1.99/month or $19.99/year (USD). The Penny Note Family Plan is $3.99/month and covers up to 6 people in one household.
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
You can cancel anytime from the profile page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — your remaining time stays active until then.
We process payments through Stripe. Their terms apply to the transaction.
If we raise prices, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and let you cancel before the new price applies.

Refunds

By default, subscription fees are non-refundable. If you believe there was an error or you were charged after canceling, email support@penny-note.com and we'll investigate and refund where appropriate.

5. Coins and virtual items

Penny Note awards in-app coins for completing tasks. Coins have no real-world cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts, cannot be redeemed for money, and may be adjusted or removed at our discretion to fix bugs or address abuse.

6. Your content

Your todos, journal entries, photos, vision-board items, and other things you create remain yours. You grant us a limited license to store and display that content to you (and only to you) so the app can work. We don't claim ownership of anything you make.

7. Our content

The Penny Note app, name, design, code, study-quiz questions, and built-in games are owned by us. You can use them through the app under these terms, but you can't copy, redistribute, or build a competing product with them.

8. Feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback through the in-app feedback button, we're free to use that feedback to improve Penny Note without owing you anything for it.

9. Disclaimers

Penny Note is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly preserve your data forever. We disclaim all implied warranties to the maximum extent allowed by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for anything related to Penny Note is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost data.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in [STATE], and you and we both consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

12. Termination

You can stop using Penny Note at any time and delete your account from the profile page. We may suspend or close accounts for violations of these terms, with notice when reasonable.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we'll notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use Penny Note after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
